Stuart Yankell Legacy Gallery
61 Studio Court
Stamford, CT 06903

Stamford developer Don Knight says “saving a little bit of history” and getting the floor area bonus offered by Stamford’s “7.3” program make worthwhile the effort it takes to redevelop old buildings.

Please join Historic Neighborhood Preservation, Preservation Connecticut, the State Historic Preservation Office and the Stamford History Center for our Second Annual Renee Kahn Historic Preservation Awards, and like last year, the event will be a late afternoon cocktail reception.

Mr. Knight will be honored, along with his partner, Steve Grabowski and his son Steve Jr. at the for their work in  Stamford renovating old housing and adding additional units. We will also honor Perkins Eastman Architect Joe Costa and Architect Joe Barns for the CJ Starr Barn Project at Strawberry Hill School and architectural historian Nils Kerchius for his decades of work documenting Stamford’s historic buildings and neighborhoods.

Mr. Yankell’s gallery, which also serves as his studio, is the former workshop of American sculptor Gutzon Borglom, the sculptor of Mount Rushmore. Mr. Yankell, who is a painter, has reimagined the rusticated stone building as an elegant and welcoming place. It is surely destined to become one of  Stamford’s most interesting art galleries.

We are honored this year to have Harpist Lisa Tennebaum accompany the event this year.

Suggested admission is $100, $50 of which is tax deductible. Your contribution will help us to preserve Stamford’s historic built environment. Sponsorships available.
